I love:
That people in Toronto throw impromptu picnic potluck parties on a Wednesday night.
That people will know intuitively to gather in parks on holidays to watch neighbourhood kids put on their own fireworks display.
That there are at least a dozen locally-owned cafes that I can walk to and that offer free Wi-Fi.
That, for such a big city, there is a real sense of community here.
Toronto, you are awesome.

When I was a kid, my mom had a vegetable garden. I remember the rows of carrots. The strawberries growing at the side of the house.
I remember watching the snap peas grow. Seeing the little balls, dark dots inside the smooth green pod, growing bigger and bulging with excitement.
The freshly turned soil, rough and black, greying under the sun.
It was an exciting time, full of mud pies and peonies and dirt under my fingernails.
